A Brown County Indiana State Park Adventure

This past weekend Sam and I joined his family on an adventure to Brown County State Park in Indiana for a Valentines weekend of outdoorsy fun.

We went on nature hikes through snow covered forests, around a frozen pond, and out into the fresh Indiana air. The snow covered trails had been packed down by other hikers making them beginner level winter hikes. Snow balls flew sporadically throughout the hikes as Sam and his brother found windows of opportunity to pelt each other with snow.

The weekend was dedicated to enjoying the company of the people and wilderness that surrounded us.  We were gently reminded of this necessity of connection upon arrival in our cabin.

The entire weekend reminded me of home, back in New Hampshire. From the cabin, to the snow covered hills, it was exactly what a homesick New Englander needed, to stir memories of home at the end of a long snowy winter.

It was a lovely weekend away from the city. A weekend among the quiet trees and graceful snow. A weekend together at Brown County State Park.

A Walk Together On A Winters Day

This past weekend Sam, his family, and I all went on a long walk through a big beautiful cemetery in Cincinnati. Yes, you read that correctly, we walked through a cemetery. But, this wasn't just any cemetery it was more like a big beautiful park. I'm not sure I have ever been in a more beautiful or peaceful place a person could be laid to rest. But, don't take my word for it just look at the pictures I took from our walk (shot on an iphone).

A remarkable mausoleum on the edge of an icy pond.

A frozen waterfall.

A tranquil stone bridge.
We enjoyed our long walk on a mild winters day. A simple Saturday adventure together!
