A Bockfest Adventure

Well, it looks like spring is just around the corner and here in Cincinnati that means only one thing... Bockfest! A beer festival put on by Over the Rhine brewery district. The festival has been celebrated for over two decades and serves as a celebration for the coming of spring. Sam and I had a great time enjoying all that Bockfest has to offer including-- marching down main street in the annual parade, drinking beer in the Bockfest beer hall, and enjoying the splendors of downtown Cincinnati after a few heavy bock beers. If a picture says a thousand words, I'll let these highlights from the Bockfest parade tell the story.

Sunny spring light on my love.

Me, in Bockfest disguise.

A float.

A float.

A cute float.

A man and his hog ...both dressed as goats.

Along the parade route.

Parade watchers.

A sign that we had arrived. Arrived, to the Bockfest festivities.

Bockfest -- a Cincinnati classic, a weekend beer festival not to be missed!

Until next time, continue to adventure together!

A Soft Opening, A Snowman Burning, and A Chair In An Alley Adventure

Friday night, we had a fun night out in the Over the Rhine (OTR) district. We attended a soft opening of the Winnerwurst Frankfurtary at the Malt House (a Christian Moerlein Brewery). Where we enjoyed both beer, and stuffed hoagies in a German-style beer hall. The brewery has a long history but, only recently became the home to the Malt House. It's unique architecture lends itself well to the simplistic beer hall style. The large space also lends itself to a smattering of communal games including classics like pool, and darts, as well as newer options including giant Jenga, and Corn-hole.

Following a couple of pints we made our way to an event entitled "precipitation retaliation". The event was centered around the burning of a snowman, and well, that was reason enough for us to seek attendance. Snow - Be - Gone! Unfortunately as we rounded the corner to the event we smelt the fire. We had missed it! We missed seeing the burning, but we were able to catch the tail end. There wasn't much left but, I took a shot of the remains.

Having missed the snowman retaliation we decided to venture out into OTR. The OTR district is artsy and young...ie the hipster zone. We enjoyed seeing a few pop-up art shows, and I found a few too good to be true photo opps myself.

This window display requested a picture. I can't refuse taking a picture, especially when it's message is clear: Stay You.

The second picture happened as we were walking down the street. Sam looked down an alley and there at the very end of alley was a discarded old chair. The chair had a gaping hole in the middle. The placement, in front of a large barbed wire fence wedged into an alley of marred cement walls with a streetlight serving as a spotlight was far too perfectly composed to not be photographed.

Our Friday night together was a fun little adventure in one of the most eclectic parts of the city.

Until next time, continue to adventure together!
